Perhaps the most exciting story is that there are five women going after the Triple Crown, with the 2023 Arizona Trail Race as the final piece of the puzzle. As if the riding wasn’t challenging enough, the AZT800 riders must carry their bikes 21 miles across the Grand Canyon, as bikes aren’t allowed on that section of the route. Both events are run concurrently, and for 2023, they start at the same location and same time on the Arizona/Mexico border. Two distances are available: the Arizona Trail 300 is a 300-mile event that has been held every April since 2006, and the Arizona Trail 800 is the complete traverse from Mexico to Utah, which was was offered for the first time in 2010 as the AZTR750. The Arizona Trail Race is an unofficial challenge that takes place every year on the Arizona Trail, which snakes its way across the state.
